Cobb County receives its drinking water from the Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority, a regional wholesale provider. Cobb’s drinking water originates entirely in Georgia and is delivered to residents by the Cobb County Water System.
Annually, the Water System delivers 24 billion gallons of water through 2,900 miles of water lines. This service is provided to more than 495,000 people in the unincorporated portions of Cobb County and the cities of Acworth and Kennesaw.
Approximately 73 million gallons of wastewater per day – 26 billion gallons per year – is processed at the four wastewater treatment facilities in Cobb. The collection process for the entire county begins through 2,700 miles of sewer lines including unincorporated Cobb, the five cities of Acworth, Austell, Kennesaw, Marietta, Powder Springs and Smyrna, small portions of Bartow, Cherokee, Douglas and Fulton counties, and the City of Atlanta.
Our comprehensive stormwater management program includes drainage system maintenance, repair and basin planning; continuous sampling and analysis of water in Cobb’s streams, rivers and lakes; and capital programs to manage run-off and protect water quality.
